Ergonomic Risk Evaluation Tool: Validity, Reliability and Education
Project
The Workers Compensation Board
of Manitoba's Research and Workplace Innovation Program awarded
A. Dolhy Ergonomics Inc. funding for a project to develop and
validate an ergonomic risk evaluation tool for existing manufacturing
jobs as well as pre-production tasks. An excel based application
was develpoed and validated in a manufacturing facility. The application
and user manual can be downloaded under the MERET tab.

Work for an Aging Workforce: Small Business Ergonomic Intervention
and Evaluation Project
The Safe Work for an Aging
Workforce project has now been completed. For a summary of results

Rural Safe
Work Communities Project
The purpose is to develop and implement Health
and Safety Groups in rural areas of Manitoba with an emphasis
on health and safety programs and ergonomics. There is a need
for rural workplaces to access resources, share information, develop
best practises and to develop sustainable health and safety programs.
The project was completed in 2010, however through MB Telehealth,
bi-annual education sessions continue to be held in April and
November.

Red
River College, Continuing Education - Ergonomics course
Red River College
offers a 40 hour ergonomics course through continuing education.
It is offered as an evening session and as part of the Health
and Safety Certificate program. Please visit www.rrc.mb.ca
for more information. Mr. Dolhy developed the course in 2004 and
has teaches twice a year.

Labour Workplace Safety and Health Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention
Regulation
Mr. Dolhy was
a member of the public review committee that drafted and recommended
the Part 8 Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention regulation. Please

Minister
of Labour and Immigration's Advisory Council
Mr. Dolhy was
a Professional Technical Representative for the Minister of Labour
and Immigration's Advisory Council. He was member from 2008-2014.
The Advisory
Council on Workplace Safety and Health was established in 1977
under the authority of the Workplace Safety and Health Act. The
Council reports directly to the Minister of Labour and Immigration,
concerning:
- General workplace safety and health issues;
- Protection of workers in specific situations;
- Appointment of consultants and advisors;
- Review of the Workplace Safety and Health
Act and its administration undertaken by Council at least
once every five years or when requested by the Minister and;
- any other matter concerning workplace safety
and health on which the Minister seeks the Councils
advice.
Members are appointed by the Lieutenant
Governor in Council, with equal representation from workers, employers,
and technical/professional organizations. The Workplace Safety
and Health Division provides technical, administrative and financial
support to the Council.
